International Women’s Day, Google replaces its usual Google logo with an
illustrated doodle highlighting the economical, political and sociological
achievements made by women around the world during the past century. The
company does so in an attempt to honor women across all
nations and cultures.
International
Women’s Day has served to recognize and help advance women’s rights across the
globe since its inception in Copenhagen in 1911 and now becomes an official
holiday in a number of countries including China, Nepal, Uganda and Vietnam.
The
International Women’s Day website read: “…more than one million women and men
attended IWD rallies campaigning for women’s rights to work, vote, be trained,
to hold public office and end discrimination.”
