Google Holding Talks Regarding Purchase of Mobile-Payments Firm Softcard

(Digital Marketing Agency, thesnsgroup.com)- World’s No.1 search engine Google Inc. is reportedly holding talks with mobile-payments powerhouse Softcard over a deal that could help pair both giant firms to battle rival Apple Inc. and its new Apple Pay service.

According to technology news website TechCrunch, Google may splash out around $100 million on the acquisition of the largest U.S. wireless carriers, jointly owned by AT&T Inc. Verizon Communication Inc.'s Verizon Wireless Inc. and T-Mobile US incorporation.

Google was not immediately available for comment outside regular U.S. business hours.

"We do not comment on merger speculation," said a Softcard representative.
