UK-Based O2 in Line to Be Sold to British Telecom

(Digital Marketing Agency, thesnsgroup.com)- If Spanish website El Confidencial is to be believed, Madrid-based broadband and telecommunications provider Telefonica is likely to sell its UK mobile operator O2 to British Telecom in return for a 20 percent share in BT as part of a "strategic alliance" to strengthen the pair.

"According to various sources, the talks between Telefonica and British Telecom are advanced although no final deal has been reached", reported the website.

However, a spokesman at Telefonica declined to comment on the report, while no one at BT has to date broken the silence on the matter.
