Equinix Building Sydney Fourth Data Center

Digital Marketing Agency, Data center specialist Equinix starts building its fourth data center in Sydney—the fifth facility in Australia worth $97 million. Codenamed ‘SY4’, the new facility has been designated as an International Business Exchange (IBX) and will host 3,000 racks once finished.
Stuart Ayres MP, New South Wales minister for trade, tourism and major events, said: “The NSW Government has worked with Equinix to support the company’s growth in Sydney and we welcome the company’s latest investment which will help to ensure that New South Wales businesses have the opportunity to leverage world-class interconnection services.”
He added: “These services assist in unlocking new revenue opportunities and drive growth in our digital economy.” A recent report from Frost & Sullivan says the Australian data center services market is expected to grow at a compound annual rate of 13.9 percent for the next five years, reaching AUD$1.7 billion in revenue by 2020.
