IBM to Splash out $1.5 Billion for Globalfoundries in Bid to Take Chip Operations

The fee will be paid in cash over the next three years and the move is backed by FBR Capital Markets analyst Daniel Ives, who has seen weak sales in IBM’s software and services businesses.
“They need to narrow their focus, get their A-game on, and any distractions from a core business perspective, such as this deal, need to be put in the rear-view mirror,” said analyst Daniel Ives.
"From an IBM and investor perspective, it takes one troubled area out of the core franchise."

Google to Launch Pirate Update 2 to Fight Piracy

Google Developing Its Search Engine to Repel Piracy

IBM spends $1.5bn to eliminate its chip unit

It will also give IBM a guaranteed supply of Power chips for mainframes and large scale computers. Mexico Kick-Starts $10 Billion Project on Building State-Owned Mobile Network

Consortium to build cable system connecting Indonesia and Philippines with US

As planned, the Southeast Asia-United States (SEA-US) cable system will make a connection between Manado in Indonesia and Davao in the Philippines with Guam via the first independent segment and Guam, Hawaii and Los Angeles in the second segment.

The consortium will operate SEA-US, including PT. Telekomunikasi Indonesia International (Telin), Globe Telecom in the Philippines, US-based RAM Telecom International (RTI), Hawaiian Telcom, GTI Corporation, Telkom USA and GTA in Guam. The cable system will be supplied by NEC Corp. and work is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2016.
