Vulnerabilities in SS7 Opens the Door for Spies

A set of wireless signaling protocols is the great way for spies enables listen to your cellphone call and see your messages, leading to Digital Marketing Agency reported.

By this way, Spies don't need ultra-sophisticated tools to listen in on mobile device conversations or read text messages.

Vulnerabilities in Signaling System 7, telephony signaling protocols used by carriers worldwide, allow third parties to listen to people's cellphone calls and intercept text messages despite encryption, according to the Washington Post reported last week.

One more thing these vulnerabilities have been discovered by German cyber security researchers Tobias Engel of Sternraute and Karsten Nohl of Security Research Labs.

“SS7 was created before there was an Internet and was never designed to be secure in today's world,” said Rob Enderle, principal analyst at the Enderle Group.
