Italian Powerhouse Luxottica Partners Chipmaker Intel to Develop Hi-Tech Glasses

(Digital Marketing Agency, thesnsgroup.com)- Eyewear maker Luxottica has confirmed its agreement with Intel as the pair teams up to develop glasses combining the Italian firm’s top fashion brands with technology that could allow wearers to access information about their health or location.

"We've started to work on sensors which can detect, say, temperature or location," said Luxottica Chief Executive Massimo Vian, who declined to give further details about the deal with Intel.
"They provide their chips, we our brands."

Both Luxottica and Intel have yet given financial details about their agreement, which will involve people from both companies working together in joint research and development teams. The first glasses are expected to be rolled out in 2015.
