Samsung Sells Fibre Optics Operations to Corning with a View to Shoring up Smartphones

(Digital Marketing Agency, thesnsgroup.com)- South Korean giant Samsung Electronics Co Ltd has surprisingly sold its fibre optics operations to Corning Inc., a U.S. specialty glass maker, as the company sets sights on bolstering its core business as smartphones squeezed by stiff competition.

Allegedly, Samsung is enduring a difficult period, with Chinese rivals like Xiaomi Technology Co Ltd and Apple Inc's iPhones having caught it at the low end and at the top in the smartphone market respectively.

"We have decided to sell our fibre optics business, in order to focus on our core business areas," a Samsung Electronics spokeswoman said.
