Ackley: Paid Search Management Platforms not to be affected by Google’s “Not Provided”

Digital marketing agency, thesnsgroup.com It seems to be very surprising news that Google will soon stop passing search query data on paid search click. The question is what will happen to Paid Search Management Platforms providing that Google really applies what is called “Not Provided”.

According to Ackley, CMO of Marin Software, most paid search platforms would not be affected if Google does opt to keep search query referrer data from passing through on paid search clicks. Digital marketing agency, thesnsgroup.com

For Ackley, if Google does apply the rule, only search query, not keyword, will be affected. It is keyword data which Marin software uses for its services such as optimization capabilities and market-leading analytic. Keyword data are different from search query data. He explained Search queries are used primarily for keyword expansion and negative keyword discovery. Most advertisers are not affected for they are bidding on keywords and paid search advertisers will still be accessible to search query data tied to clicks and conversion in AdWords.
