US Department of Energy Plans To Build Fastest Supercomputers

Well-known Digital Marketing Agency, The US Department of Energy is set to build two new GPU-accelerated supercomputers, codenamed ‘Summit’ and ‘Sierra.’ Using Nvidia GPUs and IBM POWER, the two will be considerably faster than Tianhe-2, currently the world’s most powerful system, developed by China’s National University of Defense Technology.

It is hoped that that experiments conducted with the aid of these impressive machines will lead to greater US energy independence, help find new approaches to curbing climate change, improving fuel efficiencies and predicting natural disasters.

Jen-Hsun Huang, CEO and co-founder of NVIDIA said: “Today’s science is tomorrow’s technology. Scientists are tackling massive challenges from quantum to global to galactic scales. Their work relies on increasingly more powerful supercomputers. Through the invention of GPU acceleration, we have paved the path to exascale supercomputing – giving scientists a tool for unimaginable discoveries.”

Smartphones to Have 3D Display without the Internet Access

(Digital Marketing Agency) – According to the publication from The Optical Society’s journal Optica, smartphones will soon be able to have a 3 dimensional images display on the screen without the help of the Internet  by simply scanning Quick Response (QR) codes.

“We have developed a method of using QR codes along with smartphones to enable encrypted 3D information to be securely displayed on mobile devices,” said Bahram Javidi, project team leader from the University of Connecticut in the US.

“The QR codes we developed store compressed and encrypted images, which can be easily scanned, decrypted, and decompressed by commercial smartphones for secure 3D visual communication,” he added.

“In the new method, we store self-contained slices of data in the QR codes themselves. It is then possible to receive and visualise 3D images without using the internet,” Javidi said.

(Digital Marketing Agency, thesnsgroup.com)- According to Robert Bosch, a senior executive at auto industry supplier, non-polluting fuel-cell cars will be cheaper and so match the mass market by 2015 thanks to greater economies of scale.

Albeit with their efficiency, the fuel-cell cars have failed to gain widespread acceptance because of prohibitive development costs, yet head of Bosch's automotive division Wolf-Henning Scheider still sees the vehicles as viable alternatives.

"They are not out of the race. They are a viable alternative to other zero-emission vehicle technologies," Scheider said.

The first fuel-cell cars on the market are expected to be priced at approximately $70,000.

Daimler, Hyundai, Nissan, Ford, Toyota, Honda and General Motors are all developing fuel-cell vehicles, while Toyota and Honda intend start selling fuel-cell vehicles starting next year.
